Tim Whitaker, Senior Police Officer
Tim Whitaker graduated the Houston Police Academy in June of 1986. Tim began training and evaluating young officers in 1995 and continues to do so having trained over 180 Houston Officers. Tim was a runner-up for the Houston Police Field Training Officer of the Year Award in 2015. Tim has been a Mental Health Officer in Houston since the inception of the C.I.T program in 2001 and received his TCOLE Instructor Certificate in 2016..
Since 2012, Tim has been a Board Member of the Houston Police Officers Union sitting on several committees. Tim works closely with Concerns of Police Survivors and Chairs the HPOU Committee that is responsible for taking Houston Survivors and Officers to National Police Week every May in Washington DC.. Tim is also the President of the Houston Officers Peer Assistance program.
Tim is a long time Member of Second Baptist Church in Houston and helps with their Security detail. He also assist with the logistics of taking over 3500 High School and Junior High students to summer camps every year in Florida and Mississippi. Tim is a member of the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Calf Scramble Committee, Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association, Fellowship of Christian Peace Officers, The Wounded Warrior Project, the 100 Club, St Jude Cancer Research, and the Houston Police Foundation. Tim loves to run and has participated in numerous 25K ,10K, and 5K runs, and Half-Marathons, including the Houston Marathon.
Tim was appointed to the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement in 2017 by Governor Greg Abbott. Tim shares his home in Ft Bend County with his rescue dog Millie.
